This will be followed by a ploughman's lunch in the Community Hall.

If you wish to bring gifts of food, please can they be non-perishable items (e.g. tins) which can be passed on to the local food bank.

It would be lovely to have some pictures of harvest to use at the service, so if there any children and/or adults with a little time to spare who would like to draw their impression of 'Harvest', contributions will be gratefully received. Please use an A4 sheet of paper and put your name on the sheet; it can be a picture of Harvest in the present day or in bygone times, whatever you feel you would like to convey. Please either pass the pictures to Sarah or Brian Shipman, or leave them on the organ at the back of Church in an envelope with Sarah's name on by the 21st September at the latest.

Victoria Picnic Concert

A Victorian Picnic Concert will take place at 6pm in the grounds of Aldborough Museum. There will be a tour of the museum grounds, led by Andrew Lawson-Tancred, starting at 6.15pm . Music will be provided by Hautbois Heritage, singing and playing on authentic instruments, with scene setting vignettes to put the songs into context. The Rallentando Trio will complete the musical offering, playing a selection of Victorian string music.

The Houseman family invite you to this coffee morning. We are raising money for a project called All Hands. Our son, Dan, will be volunteering for this project in June this year in Nepal. The charity is involved with the rebuilding of homes and the community after the horrendous earthquake in Nepal last year. Over 9,000 died and a further 23,000 were injured.

We would be delighted if you could join us. Entry is £1 to include tea or coffee. There will be a raffle and a cake stall. Any donations will be gratefully received.

Annual Parish Meeting and Parish Council Meeting

Arkendale Community Hall, 7.00pm (PC meeting), 8.00pm (AP meeting).

This is an open meeting for all electors in the Parish so if there are any items you would like to raise please do come along and have your say!

The Parish Meeting, which all parishioners are encouraged to attend, provides a very valuable opportunity to raise matters of concern or interest to all.

The Parish Councillors will welcome a good attendance and also the chance to meet new people in the village who may as yet not know how the Council is run.

This is a much more informal meeting than the usual Parish Council meetings and it provides a much-needed opportunity for the electors in the parish to come and discuss matters of their choosing. Free tea and coffee will be provided.

Community Funding for Arkendale - Meeting at the Blue Bell Inn, 7.30pm

You are invited to attend, bring ideas and/or get more involved.

The Allerton Park Landscape and Cultural Heritage Fund, resulting from the contract to build the new waste recycling plant, is available for grants to local projects which will make a difference in the area.

Some examples of the types of scheme that could be supported: Pond creation/ improvement; Native species planting for nesting birds; Garden planting to increase pollination; Small woodland copse planting; Gapping up existing hedgerows; Tree planting; Community archaeology projects; village history; Oral history projects; Visual improvements to village environment; Removal of invasive species
