Come and Meet our New Defibrillator
Arkendale Community Hall, 7.30pm
Your Parish Council have acquired the first of two Defibrillators for the Parish and this will be installed onto the external Wall of The Bluebell on Friday Morning 7th December.
THIS IS A PUBLIC ACCESS COMMUNITY DEFIBRILLATOR AND DOES NOT REQUIRE SKILLED OR NOMINATED INDIVIDUALS TO OPERATE. BY ATTENDING, YOU WILL NOT BE COMMITTING YOURSELF TO ANY FORM OF INVOLVEMENT OR SUPPORT
However, your Parish Council have arranged for both an introduction to the equipment and an overview how the system operates, from you making that first 999 call, through the process and to answer any questions you may have.
We also believe strongly that a basic knowledge of "CPR" is also essential and have arranged to combine a short CPR training course, giving you hands-on practical experience, at the same time.
This will be led by a Qualified CPR Trainer (John Brook) supported by three Doctors from Coneythorpe and 4 Resuscitation Mannequins. The Doctors are Liz Carson (West), Elinor Harrison and William Watson. (We don't yet have the names of the Mannequins).
The evening session should take about an hour and the format is set out below.
IMPORTANT: Although all can attend to watch, listen and question, the maximum that can partake in the "practical" sessions with the trainers is 20 (5 per trainer) so you MUST advise us if you wish to take part in those sessions.
E-mail your response to defib@arkendale.org.uk stating your name(s) and if you are attending AND if you wish to partake in the practical Session.
Format of the evening:
- 7.30 pm Intro to the Defib Unit:
- The Equipment will be there to see (but not used) before it is installed on The Bluebell on Friday 7th Dec
- A short Video to show how it is used by ANY member of the Public
- Emphasis is on its simplicity and there NOT being any responsibility of the attendee's part.
- Intro to CPR
- An intro by John Brook followed by a short video.
- Tea/Coffee Break
- CPR Practical Session
- Split into 4 groups of 5
- John Brook leads Demo with one group, supported by Liz, Elinor & William supervising a group each.
- Questions & Answer Session.
- 8.30pm End
