Harvest Festival

St Bartholomew's Church, 11.00 am - led by The Revd John Smith, Area Dean

This will be followed by a fundraising harvest lunch in the Community Hall at 12.30pm (Ham salad with pickles, Apple Pie or Crumble vegetarian option)
Bar and Raffle

All are welcome to either or both of these events but please let Annie Watson (340944) know by Thursday 27th September to enable us to organise catering. Tickets for lunch are 5 (children under 10 free).

Proceeds to Church and a cheque donation will be made to the Harrogate Homeless Project.

We welcome donations of tinned or dried goods and toiletries that can be donated to the project donate at the service or bring to the Community Hall on the day.

Charity Clay Pigeon Shoot

A Clay Pigeon Shoot to raise money for Arkendale Church Funds will be held at Knaresborough Gun Club, starting at 6.00pm. No advance tickets, just turn up on the night.

Prizes will be awarded in each section. There will also be a raffle.

  • "Regulars" for shooters with frequent experience - 1st prize: £50
  • "Seasonal" for shooters with less experience - 1st prize: £25
  • "Juniors" up to 14 years old - 1st prize: £15
Shooters will be required to bring their own gun and conform with regulations. There will be 50 sporting birds and entry is £12 per card.

The organisers would be grateful for donations towards the raffle and towards the prizes for the shoot itself.

Blind Veterans' 100K Yorkshire Walk

Participants in the 100K Yorkshire walk will be stopping off at the village hall for a quick break and some food.

Blind Veterans UK believe that no one who's served our country should battle blindness alone. Founded in 1915 and previously known as St Dunstan's, Blind Veterans UK marked 100 years of service in 2015. From our birth through to modern day, it continues to provide a lifetime's practical and emotional support, helping blind veterans to recover their independence and discover a life beyond sight loss.

Annual Parish Meeting and Parish Council Meeting

Arkendale Community Hall, 7.00pm (PC meeting), 8.00pm (AP meeting).

This is an open meeting for all electors in the Parish so if there are any items you would like to raise please do come along and have your say!

The Parish Meeting, which all parishioners are encouraged to attend, provides a very valuable opportunity to raise matters of concern or interest to all.

The Parish Councillors will welcome a good attendance and also the chance to meet new people in the village who may as yet not know how the Council is run.

This is a much more informal meeting than the usual Parish Council meetings and it provides a much-needed opportunity for the electors in the parish to come and discuss matters of their choosing. Free tea and coffee will be provided.
