Tuesday 20th July

Allerton Incinerator Open Meeting

Great Ouseburn Village Hall, 7.30pm

There will be a public exhibition and meeting with AmeyCespa (the chosen contractor)

It is very early days for the planning of the incinerator and the Parish Council are very anxious that both ourselves and the public are made fully aware of all the facts so that an informed decision can be made in the future, and they will certainly be listening to the views of all parishoners in due course.

To start this process, an open meeting is provisionally planned for Tuesday, 20th July, in Great Ouseburn Village Hall at 7.30pm, chosen because it is the largest hall in our immediate area in which there should be room for everyone. The format of the meeting has not yet been finalised but it will provide the first of many opportunities to learn more about what is proposed; please watch this space for further details of both this and future meetings.

As the proposed site for the construction is in our very own parish here in Arkendale, it is important that as many local people as possible attend these meetings and make their views known to their Parish Councillors. If it goes ahead this incinerator could have a marked impact on our community and it is vital that every aspect possible of the plans be fully explored and discussed before any decision is made.

Bastille Day - French Celebration

Blue Bell Inn, Arkendale

'Good moning. Please read zis very carefully 'cos I shall write zis only once'. 14th July is Bastille day in France, and a little bit of that country will be coming to Arkendale to celebrate with our French counterparts on that very day.

Arkendale's answer to René from 'Allo Allo' will be taking up residence at the Blue Bell for the evening and the pub will be transformed into that famous French café. French food will be served, accordion music played and the atmosphere from that famous war-time café transported to this little part of Yorkshire. It would be super if all who go could dress up too, whether as one of the glamorous waitresses, the English policeman or Herr Flick himself, but we realise that this may not be practical for everyone.

However it would add to the fun if everyone could at least wear a little something in keeping with the era or the program, be it a beret, a headscarf or a waitress's 'pinny'.

Ken, Natalie and Linda invite you all to join them for the evening and join in the fun, but they wish to decline the offer of anyone trying to impersonate Edith in full song. That might prove too much for anyone to bear!
