- Bus Timetable - click here for details
- Railway - Knaresborough and Cattal stations are only a few miles away, both on the York/Harrogate/Leeds line. For timetable details call 08457 48 49 50 or visit

- Refuse collections - Tuesday mornings
- Recycling collections - alternate Fridays (from 10 February 2012) - collecting cans, glass bottles, papers and garden waste. Click here for the calendar of recycling dates.

- BT Telephone box (cards only) - east side of Moor Lane, south of the church
- Post box (collections 4.00pm Monday-Friday, 10.45am Saturday) - next to the telephone box. Deliveries are usually mid-morning.
- Mobile Library - NYCC Library Service mobile library visits Arkendale one every three weeks. It stops by the Bluebell Pub, 3pm - 3.15pm on each visit. For details of the dates see this NYCC webpage.
- Electricity - in the event of a power cut CE Electric, who provide electrical power to Yorkshire, have a priority register for those with special needs. For details see this document, or see: www.ceelectricuk.com/page/service/specialneeds.cfm
- Internet - high speed broadband is not available in Arkendale - the local exchange does not have the capacity for more than about 2Mbs on the BT lines. The Choose ISP service may help with a better deal, but the underlying speeds will be common to all providers.
- Local councillors, MPs and MEPs - contact them via the WriteToThem website.
- Shops - There are no shops in nearby villages. The nearest are in Boroughbridge or Knaresborough.
- Doctors, Dentists and Vets - Can be found in Boroughbridge or Knaresborough.
- Community and Adult Education - The Community Education Offices can advise on classes available in villages and at their centres: Boroughbridge (01423 325165) and Knaresborough (01423 866061).
