Friends of the Mar

The Mar is a large pond in Lower Arkendale, with an abundance of wildlife in and around it. It has recently been acquired, on behalf of the community, by the Parish Council.
In 2018, a major grant enabled some significant clearance and replanting work to be undertaken at the Mar, and elsewhere in the Parish. For further details of this project , see the APLC Heritage Fund page.

The Friends of the Mar group of volunteers help look after this valuable village site, by undertaking various maintenance works, raising funds, and looking at the wider natural and aesthetic aspects of the village environment.

Anyone wishing to join the group, should contact Oliver Quarmby - oliver.quarmby@hotmail.co.uk.

You are also most welcome to come along to any of the future events or activities listed below.
